The “Fireplays” (aka Fireplace), started their way on January 14th, 2016, with their first mini-album “Against the stream”, which included five songs.
It started as a solo studio project by a drummer and sound producer — Igor Merezhany, and the guest musicians — the bass guitarist Ilya Chemeris and the guitarist Sergey Kulinich.
In February 2016, the first band was formed. Andrew “Luka” Luchanko took the place of a vocalist, Michael Chirko played the bass guitar, Vladimir Buzadzhi became the second guitarist after Sergey Kulinich, and Igor Merezhany played the drums, as before.
In this line-up, from March to September, “Fireplace” recorded three singles — “Know you”, “Like a sky”, and “Don't let go”. Also, the band took part in the competition "Hit Conveyor" from the popular music channel M2, where they hit the top 10 of the best new Ukrainian bands.
In October, "Fireplace" gave their first solo concert in Kiev, in one of the most popular clubs called “Caribbean Club”, where they gathered a full hall of Ukrainian alternative music fans.
By the end of 2016, the band began working on the second mini-album "Po4uttya" (Feelings). The work continued until May 2017, and after all the instruments and vocals were recorded, vocalist A.Luchanko left the band for personal reasons. Nevertheless, in September, “Fireplace” released the “Po4uttya” album, which included 6 songs in the Ukrainian language.
After the release of the second album, Igor Merezhanyy, drummer and founder of the band, decided to suspend the band’s activities indefinitely. He thought that the band was lack of development opportunities in Ukraine. All band members started other projects.
In November 2018, Fireplace got a new chance. Igor Merezhany met the guitarist Stan Voitenko and the bass guitarist Alex Arkhipov. The three of them found much in common, especially in music, so they decided to play together and write original songs. Along with work on their original music, the band often plays covers of the instrumental blues-funk-jazz compositions.
After some time, the band fully resumes their work as they found the fourth member — vocalist Alex Frolov. In a short time, they recorded their first single “In the way” which goes with their new name “Fireplays”.
On February of 26th, 2019, the newborn band had a “pilot” concert in “America House”, which is a part of USA embassy in Kiev.
On March 4, 2019 “Fireplays” released their new single “In the way”. In this song, the band members set themselves the task — to find the absolutely new sound, different from their old songs.
